After the German invasion of the Soviet Union in the summer of 1941, the Russian infantry fought as fiercely as possible to defend their "Mother Russian" using the tactics her soldiers quickly learned directly on the battlefield. But once they got better equipment and a number of tanks, they were ruthless and very effective in pushing the German army back across the conquered territories, and finally in 1945 they managed to seize Berlin.
