Panzerkampfwagen III, commonly known as Panzer III, was a medium tank developed in 1930 by Germany and used extensively in World War II. The official German designation for ammunition was Sd.Kfz. 141 It was intended to fight other armored combat vehicles and to serve alongside and support a similar Panzer IV, which was originally designed to support infantry.

Since 1942, the latest version of the Panzer III was mounted 7.5 cm KwK 37 L / 24, which was better suited to support infantry. Production of the Panzer III was terminated in 1943. However, the capable Panzer III chassis provided hulls for the Sturmgeschütz III assault cannon until the end of the war.

The Model J had a solid 50 mm (1.97 inch) plate on the front and back. They were upgraded with a 5 cm KwK 38 L / 42 cannon. It was manufactured in the years 1941 - 1942 and 1521 variants of J. were produced.

In addition to use in Europe, the Panzer III also served in North Africa at the famous Afrika Korps by Erwin Rommel.
