Information about the template:
The SU-76 was a Soviet self-propelled gun used during World War II. It was built on the chassis of the T-70 tank. The SU-76 was a self-propelled gun armed with a 76.2 mm ZiS-3 cannon. The undercarriage had its origins in the T-70 tank, but had to be widened to 2.73 m and lengthened by one undercarriage to 4.88 m. However, the type had serious technical deficiencies and therefore had to be modernized. It was already designated SU-76M and was the most produced version. It also received more powerful 2 x GAZ-203 engines instead of the original 2 x GAZ-202.
The SU-76M was the most produced Soviet self-propelled gun during World War II. However, it was not very popular among its users. It was a typical crude war product. The driver sat by the two engines, from which he was not separated in any way. The box-shaped superstructure with the armament was uncovered from the top, which meant that the operator was at risk from grenades and small arms fire. But the advantage was that the infantry could communicate with the SU-76 crew, which is important when fighting in urban areas. It also often saved lives if the vehicle was hit by an infantry anti-tank weapon. After the end of the war, they were soon scrapped and given to some countries, for example China, the DPRK and North Vietnam. Machines of this type were also in service with the Czechoslovak Army. A total of 14,292 SU-76s were produced.
