Description

Plastic model Revell 03319 - tank T34-85 in 1:35 scale for gluing. The kit contains 229 pieces, length 229 mm, difficulty 4.

Identifying T-34 variants can be complicated. Tower castings, surface details and equipment varied between factories. New features were added in the middle of production series or retrofitted with older tanks. Damaged tanks were rebuilt, sometimes with the addition of newer model equipment and even new towers. Some tanks had a steel scrap patch of various thicknesses welded to the hull and turret. These tanks are called sekranami ("with screens"), although it was never the official designation for any variant of the T-34.

Production of the T-34-85 model began in January 1944 in Factory No. 112, first using an 85 mm D-5T cannon. Simultaneously with the production of the T-34-85 with the D-5T weapon, the production of the T-34-85 began with the use of the S-53 weapon (later modified and redesigned as the ZIS-S-53 weapon). The improved T-34-85 became a standard Soviet medium tank with continuous production operation until the end of the war. Production of the T-34-85 initially cost about 30 percent more than the 1943 model. Its maximum speed remained approximately the same and the penetration of the main weapon's armor and the thickness of the front armor of the turret almost doubled.
