Tornado IDS
The Italian Air Force's Reparto Sperimentale Volo air group was born on the first day of November 1956. This unit soon began to be designated 311, which appears on its aircraft to this day. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of its existence, a special coating was created for the Tornado IDS aircraft. He presented himself in October 2016 at a memorial event, during which he aroused great interest and was a great success. Today, the "311" group is one of the best aviation testing and experimental centers in the world and consists of a highly trained and qualified crew. The Tornado IDS was developed during the 1970s as part of a partnership program with Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany to create a versatile modern war machine. To date, more than a thousand of them have come off the production lines, and without exaggeration, Tornado can be described as a milestone in the history of military aviation.
F-16 Mlu
In 1989, a two-year study was launched on possible upgrades for the USAF and European Partner Air Forces (EPAF) F-16A / B. The result of the F-16 Mid-Life Update (MLU) was designed to improve the cockpit and avionics to an equivalent.
Development began in May 1991 and continued until 1997. However, the USAF withdrew from the MLU program in 1992.
The first of five prototype conversions took off on April 28, 1995, and installation of production kits began in January 1997. Original plans envisaged the production of 553 kits (110 for Belgium, 63 for Denmark, 172 for the Netherlands, 57 for Norway, and 130 for USAF). , however, the final orders were only 325 sets (72 for Belgium, 61 for Denmark, 136 for the Netherlands and 56 for Norway).
