Template information:
Right after Tirpitz, the Bismarck, the flagship of the German Navy, was Germany's largest battleship. Its displacement thus reached a respectable 50,900 tons and the crew had 2,092 members. Bismarck was put into service on August 24, 1940, and first left the port on May 18, 1941 during Operation "Rheinübung". However, along with another German ship, Prinz Eugen, it was soon discovered by British reconnaissance aircraft. When meeting the British battle cruiser Hood on May 24, 1941, Bismarck was still successful and managed to sink his juice. However, a long pursuit ensued, during which Bismarck was hit by a British bomber torpedo on May 26, 1941 and detained and shelled by the battleships King George V and Rodney. On May 27, 1941, he was finally sunk by his own crew 490 km from the French coast.
