Information about the template:
Blackburn Buccaneer, designed to conduct high-speed naval strike operations from aboard Britain's relatively small aircraft carriers. The first RAF unit to receive the Buccaneer was No. 12 Squadron at Honington in October 1969 and, despite its initial misgivings, the RAF quickly learned to appreciate the many qualities of this exceptional aircraft. Capable of extremely stable flight at high speeds and low altitudes, the Buccaneer proved to be the ideal strike aircraft to keep the Warsaw Pact countries on their toes.
During RAF air operations in the 1991 Gulf War, the effectiveness of Iraqi anti-aircraft defenses meant that Tornado and Jaguar attack missions had to be flown at higher altitudes, reducing their effectiveness.
They needed the support of the aging Blackburn Buccaneer aircraft with their 'Pave Spike' laser designator to effectively transport the 'smart' munitions, the only problem being that these aircraft were back at their home base in Scotland.
The plant was prepared and transported by twelve buccaneers in the newly applied "desert camouflage" and their laser marking equipment to the Persian Gulf, and within a few days the eponymous "Sky Pirates" were on their way.
