Academy 12353 plastic model - Vought F4U-4 "Battle of Jangjin Reservoir" aircraft in 1:48 scale to be glued. Difficulty 4.
Information about the template:
The F4U-4 was the last variant to be seen during World War II. Deliveries of the F4U-4 to the US Navy began in early 1945. It had a two-stage turbocharged -18W engine rated at 2,100 hp (1,600 kW). When a water/alcohol mixture was injected into the cylinders, power rose to 2,450 hp (1,830 kW). The aircraft required an air vane under the nose and the unarmed 62 US gal (230 L) wing fuel tanks were removed for better maneuverability at the expense of maximum range. The propeller was changed to a four-bladed type. Top speed was increased to 448 miles per hour (721 km/h) and rate of climb to more than 4,500 feet per minute (1,400 m/min) as opposed to 2,900 feet per minute (880 m/min) for the F4U- 1A. The 4-Hog" retained its original armament and had all the external load options (ie drop tanks, bombs) as the F4U-1D. The windshield was now flat bulletproof glass to prevent optical distortion, a change from the curved Plexiglas with an inner flat glass of earlier Corsairs.
