The Merkava (literally "chariot") means a series of major battle tanks developed and built in Israel by the Israel Defense Forces (IOS).

Merkava Mk. 4 known as Barakje so far the last development generation in the series of Merkava tanks, version Mk.4 has been in service since 2004. A 7.62 mm machine gun is mounted on the roof of the tank turret, which can be fully controlled by the commander from inside the tank turret, without the need to expose itself to enemy fire. Armament can be supplemented by another roof-mounted machine gun caliber 7.62 mm. In the rear of the tank hull, there is an accessible cargo space through a massive double-leaf gate, allowing the transport of up to 8-member airdrops, three stretchers with the wounded, or another supply of ammunition. The tank provides extra-high-quality passive and structural protection for the crew and carried ammunition, powerful firepower and optimal mobility for combat in all areas and types of land in which the Israeli ground forces' armored vehicles operate or have operated.
