Information about the template:
Toward the end of the Second World War, the brothers Reimar and Walter Horten were the two most famous designers of so-called flying wings in all of Germany. They brought their experience in this area with them to the special unit which, as Sonderkommando 9, was responsible for the development of these unique tailless full-wing aircraft. Development of the machine known as the Horten Ho IX, equipped with two BMW 003A-1 jet engines, began in 1942. While the first examples could only be produced as gliders due to problems with the jet engines, the second prototype received the Jumo 004B-1 engine. The V2 made its first flight in 1944 and managed to reach a speed of over 780 km/h. Horten production was later moved to Gothaer Waggonfabrik and the aircraft designation was changed to Go 229. The first machine from Gothaer Waggonfabrik, the Go 229 A-O V3, received the Jumo 004-C engine.
