Information about the template:
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat military aircraft with variable wing geometry. It was developed as part of the VFX program for the US Navy, after the F-111B project was canceled. The F-14 was the first of the newer American fighter aircraft (the so-called teen-series), which were designed taking into account the experience of dogfights with MiGs during the Vietnam War.
TheF-14A took to the skies for the first time on December 21, 1970. The aircraft was powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney TF30-P-412 jet engines with a thrust of 92.90 kN, which were developed from the TF- 30-P-12 intended originally for the unbuilt series of General Dynamics F-111B aircraft. The Hughes AN/AWG-9 radar allowed a two-man crew to search for air targets up to 315 km depending on their size and cruise missiles up to 120 km.
Serial production of the aircraft started in 1972 after successful completion of all tests, and on September 22, 1974, the F-14 machines were put into service with the US Navy.
