For its 75th anniversary, we're celebrating one of the world's most powerful air forces with a gift set of three iconic models: the F-89 Scorpion, F-117 Nighthawk and F16 Fighting Falcon.
Information about the template:
The United States Air Force was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in the famous Pentagon and is the Air Force of the United States Army. It is the second strongest of the five branches of the armed forces.
F-89 Scorpion
The F-89D/J Scorpion was the USAF's first all-weather two-seat attack aircraft and was also the most heavily armed fighter of all time. In 1950, part of the F-89D series underwent extensive modifications. Wingtip fuel tanks combined with rocket launchers could hold 1,165 liters of fuel and carry up to 52 FFAR missiles. Another numerous series was the F-89J. It could carry four Falcon missiles with infrared-guided warheads or two Genie cruise missiles, each with a 1.5-kiloton nuclear warhead, which were effective against enemy bomber squadrons.
F-117 Nighthawk
The F-117 Nighthawk single-seat attack aircraft was developed by Lockheed Martin and used by the United States Air Force. The first prototypes were presented in the 1980s, but the "Nighthawk" project was kept under strict secrecy for the next several years. The F-117 built on advanced stealth technologies designed to prevent detection and limit the reflection and emission of radar waves. For that reason, its armament was also placed in two bomb bays inside the hull, which could hold more than 2,200 kg of bombs, such as laser-guided GBU Paveway or JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition). Thanks to a pair of General Electric turbofan engines, the F-117 Nighthawk was able to reach a maximum speed of Mach 0.92. But the F-117 mainly attracted media attention in the Gulf War in 1991 and during the war in the Balkans.
F-16 Fighting Falcon
The F-16 Fighting Falcon, manufactured by the American company General Dynamics since the late 1970s, is a true icon of military aviation. It was originally developed to meet the US Air Force's needs for a modern and efficient single-seat air superiority day fighter. The project gradually evolved to create an all-weather multi-role fighter aircraft with exceptional operational flexibility. The F-16 features an original design easily recognizable by the bubble canopy, which guarantees a great view of the pilot. The F-16 also adopted innovative solutions such as the side arm, "fly-by-wire" and advanced flight and combat avionics systems. Appreciated by pilots for its great maneuverability and reliability, it is armed with a 20mm M61 Vulcan cannon. Thanks to numerous attachment points, it can use a varied offensive arsenal of missiles and bombs. The F-16 has been used by many air forces around the world and has performed, often with great effectiveness, a significant number of operational missions.
