The M1 Abrams main battle tank is the successor to the previous American M60 Patton tank. The manufacturer of this tank is General Dynamics, specifically its Land Systems division. The tank's design emphasizes crew protection, high accuracy (one shot, one kill) and high mobility. The US Army uses 3 versions of this tank: M1 (original version), M1A1 (mainly improved firepower and crew protection, the most used version today) and M1A2 (improved electronic equipment). The tank is named after General Creighton Abrams (an American general in the Vietnam War).
