The CBR600RR was introduced in 2003 as an alternative to racing replicas. It was based on the technologies used in the Honda RC211V MotoGP motorcycle and received a similar appearance.
For 2005, the CBR600RR received a major overhaul with new bodywork, fully adjustable inverted front forks, disc brakes with radial four-piston calipers and a new aluminum frame, swingarm and rear shock. Average power was also increased to around 105 PS (78 kW). The 2006 model is unchanged from the 2005 model.
