Information about the template:
The S.M.79 Sparviero was built in the 1930s by the Italian company SIAI-Marchetti as a civil aircraft, setting important world speed records at the time. It featured its typical three-engine low-plane configuration and had wood, canvas and metal construction. It was subsequently developed into military versions and was widely used by the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, particularly in the Mediterranean as a ground-based bomber and subsequently as an effective torpedo bomber. Thanks to three 750 hp Alfa Romeo 126 RC34 radial engines, recognizable by the "hump" behind the cockpit, it was able to reach a maximum speed of 430 km/h. If the role of the bomber was replaced by other more modern aircraft, the "Sparviero" throughout the duration of the conflict, in the hands of experienced crews, achieved significant results in naval operations involving torpedo attacks on enemy shipping.
