Volkswagen Samba Van has countless nicknames around the world. One of the most famous is the "Hippie Van" thanks to its enormous popularity in the sixties in the USA and in Europe among the hippie movement.
Its design was simple but spacious, mainly thanks to the rear engine. The van became popular with young people as it allowed the group to travel comfortably and was large enough to live in so it could be used for long distance trips such as music festivals or surfing. "Hippie Van" remains iconic today, thanks to being featured on album covers by musicians such as Bob Dylan. But the most famous of all, the music festival Woodstock, which took place in the summer of 1969.
