The Renault 5 Turbo or R5 Turbo is a high-performance hatchback derived from the small Renault 5, which was manufactured by Renault from 1980 to 1985. In January 1980, Renault introduced it at the Brussels Motor Show. The car was designed for rallies, but was also sold as a touring car in a total of 3,576 units during the four years of its production.
Although the standard Renault 5 had an engine located at the front, the 5 Turbo had a supercharged Cleon engine located in the middle behind the front seats in a modified Renault 5 chassis. In the standard form, the engine produced 118 kW / 160 hp. He had the drive on the rear wheels and at the time of its launch it was the most powerful production French car.
